Rob Mitchell is a woodwind specialist and instrument repair technician from Sacramento, CA. Their mission is to refine and deliver detailed works of art, in both performance and repair work. Guided by his machinist father, Rob’s instrument repair journey began sophomore year of high school where they were recognized by school administration for excellent repair work on the school band instruments, saving the school thousands of dollars in repair costs at only 15 years old.
A clarinetist by trade with expertise and performance experience on every woodwind instrument, Rob has performed in numerous ensembles throughout Northern California and the Las Vegas area, including concerto performances as a soloist, chamber ensembles, orchestras, opera, musical theater, and jazz ensembles. While pursuing undergraduate music studies at California State University Sacramento (2014-19), Rob was awarded the inaugural and second Benny Goodman Foundation Scholarships, and won the Auburn Symphony Young Artists competition. During this time, Rob also apprenticed in Sacramento area music shops and learned the tools of the trade, culminating in their current appointment as Music Inventory Manager and Repair Technician at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
In addition to a Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance from CSUS, Rob earned a Master of Music degree in multiple woodwind performance from UNLV (2019-2022), where they were also awarded a Graduate Assistantship. Rob studied clarinet with Sandra McPherson and Marina Sturm, flute with Laurel Zucker and Dr. John McMurtery, saxophone with Dr. Keith Bohm, and jazz improvisation and commercial music stylings with Adam Schroeder. A multi-faceted musician with wide ranging experience and abilities, Rob strives to create captivating, emotional, and detailed musical experiences.
